Web Standards:I am implementing three web standards in my website: XHTML 1.0, CSS 2.0 and PHP 5.1. I have used XHTML 1.0 for my markup because it is the newest, most current markup language. I am also using CSS 2.0 as my styling sheet language because it is the most current, up to date and widely used styling sheet language. I am also using PHP for my contact page because it is the standard for server-side functionality. I want to do this with my contact page to increase the security of my website, only making my information available to my PHP server, not the web server. If it were on the webserver, everyone would be able to view it. It is important that we use these standards because it is better that every developer use the same standards so that web development and web browsing is a better experience for everyone. All my pages are 100% standards compliant and validate, except for a few CSS 3 implementations.
Usability:I have made my site very usable. I have modularized the header, navigation and footer to add consistancy and continuity to my website. I have also made the same type of web page similar in style to add to the consistant style. I have also added a very usable navigation with tabs that highlight as you navigate throughout that section. I have added all the "administrative" type pages to my footer like, site map, contact page, about, stc. I have also given all my links title attibutes. This adds to the usability for handicaped users.
SEO:SEO in my site is very important because it is built for profit. It is a tourism website. The more people that make it to my website, the more money I make. I have been very coice in the selection of my h1, title and alt attributes and elements to ensure the right keywords are placed in the markup to enhance the SEO. I have been very careful in the wording of my content to enhance the SEO as well.
ROI:The Return on Investment for this site is very closely related to the SEO. I am going to make my revenue from adds. Most add servives, like Google AdSense, are based on the number of veiws of the website or clicks on the ads themselves. Now, this can only ever turn a profit unless I get a lot of people to my site. So my plan ofr my ROI is to increase my SEO.
