Overview
With the invention of technology more and more issues of Copyright continue to arise. Soon after the internet became commonplace, Napster became a household product and pushed the boundries of copyright infringement. Today, as we weild htese powerful machines for our benefit, we need to be careful how we use them to protect the crative intelectual property of others. As you search the web for content, make sure you don't break any laws. Here are some guidelines to help you:
- 1. If it says that you can use it. Use it. There are lots of free resources on the web that you can use at your will.
- 2. Some resourses allow you to use the resource, but you have to abide by their guidelines. Follow these guidelines.
- 3. Some resources are copyright protected. Use these only if you get permission.
- 4. The rest is unstated. We do no know if it is protected or free. When this happens we assume it is copyrighted and seek the approval of the site owner.
Adhearence
I have many images on my website that I copied from other sites. I have followed the guidelines above, asking for the permission of those who own the images. Sometimes I have had to get another image from another site as to not break the rules.
